Illumination for the gym of Alytus School of Adults and Youth
On September 30th, 2013, a modern sports centre was opened in Alytus. It has a volleyball gym of 600 sq. m. The total area of the building actually is 1200 sq. m. The height of the sports gym 12 m. An innovative LUMO LED illumination was selected to illuminate the modern sports gym. LUMO 90/48 – 99W illuminators with a special optics solution were especially suitable to implement the project. The light of the illuminators is pleasant to the eye and of warm spectre (4000 K). The illuminators are installed in a way that the intensity of the light on average reaches 1500 lux. It is a sufficient light intensity for filming the games. A possibility to control the illumination was installed: it can be reduced from 100% to 20%. LUMO LED illuminators not only are effective and use a small amount of energy, but the control of illumination streaming also increases the electricity savings even more. The result is the illumination which does not blind the players and viewers and which has an excellent distribution of shadowless light. Furthermore, the illuminators are installed in the gym at the height of 12 m which eliminates the costs of servicing the “high ceiling” illumination system that constitutes quite a large part of maintenance costs (additional expenses would be required to acquire/rent the equipment, pay employee wages). A chosen LUMO LED illumination system has an especially long life-time of light diodes (70,000 hours) so the institution saves these costs.
No less important is the fact that the installed LUMO LED illuminators guarantee a good quality of light. Even though the premises have high ceilings, the illumination totally meets the requirements to film the games. LUMO LED illuminators are safe, resistant to hits and vibration. They are not blinding, twinkling, or exhausting the eyes; the players can look directly at the ceiling without any discomfort. The installed illuminators disperse a light which is pleasant to the eyes players, referees, and viewers, and furthermore, they are safe and there are not harmful materials for the human health or environment in their contents.
